About the project

An explainer e-learning video is a great way to help you reach a broad audience. It is key that the information given to the final user is presented as attractive and easy to understand.

The goal was to design and animate a 3:30-minute video for an e-learning course for the Red Cross. In this video, we explained what is Covid19, which are the common symptoms, and health recommendations to stay safe.

To achieve this goal, we chose to use illustration and 2d animation as the communication tools of choice, focusing on designing an attractive piece that educates and entertains the users while keeping their attention on the information shown.

Characters & Illustrations.

The two main characters will demonstrate the impact the virus can have on our bodies, where it started, which are the main and secondary symptoms, and the health recommendations to #staysafe.

Storyboard

The use of a storyboard is key when working on a video, film, or animated piece.

It’s an important part of the pre-production process and an effective way to visualize the sequence of the scenes to understand the flow and dynamic of the storytelling.

It is a tool that allows you to see if the desired message is getting through to your target audience. Otherwise, it lets you choose which parts of the narrative should be highlighted or trimmed to produce a dynamic, entertaining, and easy-to-follow story.

Project

A high workload is a risk factor for muscle discomfort, as is physical inactivity.
40% of employees who work at the computer have low back pain.
This is why It is highly recommended to get up every hour and stretch inside the work area.

Challenge

Gesab, a Barcelona based company, commissioned me to illustrate 8 characters aged between 20 and 55 years old.
Each of these characters performs a series of stretching exercises in the work area and will be used to remind the user to get up and perform the exercises suggested by the company, to avoid muscle injuries.

Result

The designs use a reduced palette of three main colors, making the characters simple, relatable, and recognizable.

Character Design

27 characters from different backgrounds and ethnicities were created, performing many of the activities this city has to offer.
The color palette comes from the same European Union Flag.
Since I had to answer with an image, what was the European identity to me?
I decided to use only blue and yellow, so I could unite all characters under one flag.
